I finished W2D1 today with a new-to-me C25K app by Zen Labs. Enjoyed the app, which gave me voice commands to run 90 seconds and walk 120 seconds, and played my own music in between commands. I went a little slower than normal (ha!) today, since the running intervals were longer, plus I didn't sleep well last night. I have some extra energy left in me now, so I probably could've gone a little faster. :-)
Ran/walked 1.60 miles in 31:07 min.
Notes and thoughts about my training, both in the gym and on the roads and trails of the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area of North Carolina

Another Difficult Long Run
I had another challening long run today, but this time weather wasn't the problem. I think that lack of sleep and good nutrition over the past few days were the biggest factors. My right foot toe pain came on early today as well, at around two miles, which was surprising and discouraging. I'm icing my toes now as I type. I need to do more icing, in addition to getting better sleep and food inside of me.
Total mileage today was 4.1 miles. Blah on the time and min/mile average. I got it done. Tomorrow's another day!

Is It Monday Again?
This morning, the treadmills were full when I got to the gym, so I started with the recumbent bike, riding 6.26 miles in 30 minutes. When I finally got on the treadmill, I ran 3 miles in 36 minutes.
One new habit I've started in this new year (and in my new paper exercise journal) is writing down the time I start my daily workout. It might be interesting to note any patterns. I would like to start getting to the gym earlier, too.
Today for the first time, I logged the number of hours I slept last night in one of my online training journals (BuckeyeOutdoors.com has a space for it). That could be useful information as well.

Elliptical
This morning I did 45 minutes on the elliptical machine. I enjoyed it, eventhough I was a little weary from yesterday's run. I was tempted to get on the treadmill for a few minutes, but I knew I needed a break from running. I was also running short on time, as George and I were going to the early service at church.
I love being out of church early and having the rest of my Sunday to relax. This is something new George and I have been trying the past couple of weeks. The only thing I'm having trouble with is actually getting there on time! After getting up early on Saturday mornings lately to join the training group at 7 AM, I miss getting to sleep in at least one weekend day! Zzzzzz.... Part of it is that I'm still trying to get my exercise in before church. We'll see how it goes.

Short Workout
This morning I only did 30 minutes on the elliptical. Got to bed late, but for a good reason. I picked up sister and her youngest daughter from the airport. They're in town for the weekend for Parents Weekend at Duke. (My oldest niece is at Duke.) It was fun to see them last night!
I'm excited about the 5K tomorrow morning, but must get to bed early tonight. Got to!

Good workout
I did an hour on the elliptical machine this morning, and it felt great! I got a good night's sleep last night, to boot. What a difference a good night's sleep makes!!

Barely there
I just did 15 minutes on the elliptical this morning. After two nights out in a row for meetings, and several nights in a row up late, I'm out of steam. I'm glad I got to the gym and made the effort, but wish I'd had the time and energy to do more. Need to find some more time for rest as well as exercise. How would it be if I had children in addition? What if I were in grad school (which I'm planning) instead of community college right now? Guess it's all a matter of priorities.

Short workout, rest needed
This morning I did only 15 minutes on the elliptical before breakfast at the Rice House. I was sooo tired, so I decided to pack it in and head for breakfast, perhaps having more of a workout after breakfast. At weigh-in, I gained .3 of a pound, pretty discouraging after the plateau I've been on since Wednesday. I'm staying on the straight and narrow with the diet, so it's hard totell what's causing this. It's not time for my period or anything like that. I'll just keep sticking with it. Anyway, I was still tired after breakfast, so I came home and stretched out to read Harry Potter, and fell asleep for THREE HOURS! I feel so much better!

On a roll
Did another hour on the elliptical, pushed through the tiredness again. Didn't do a good job of getting to bed at a decent time last night. It'll catch up with me soon!

Back to an hour
I did another 60 minutes on the elliptical this morning. My foot's still a little sore, but otherwise, I felt strong. Got more sleep last night, thank goodness! I'm thinking about trying another 5K next month. I wonder how my foot would do....could I run through the discomfort? Should I?

Sleeping in
Being Saturday morning, I slept in a bit, and it felt like a treat! I've just finished breakfast at the Rice House, so I'm heading to the gym for my exercise. I usually exercise before breakfast, and I must admit, there's part of me that wishes I had my workout behind me now, but sleeping in was oh, so sweet!

Wednesday Morning Workout
This morning I did 12 minutes on the elliptical for .85 miles, then 45 minutes on the elliptical. I got some much needed sleep last night, so I'm feeling a bit refreshed today.

Wednesday Elliptical
This morning I did 30 minutes on the elliptical, back at my regular gym. Missed a longer workout, but set my alarm incorrectly. Thankfully, I woke up in time to get to the gym anyway! It did feel good to wake up fairly early naturally, even if it wasn't as early as I wanted.

Short workout again
Beack to 30 minutes on the elliptical this morning. I overslept, and I must admit, it was tempting to keep sleeping for that extra half an hour, but I'm glad now that I got up and made it to the gym. Gotta go to bed early tonight, though!

Short workout
Did 30 minutes on the elliptical this morning, as I had an early eye appointment this morning, and I got to bed late last night after a meeting in Raleigh. I did have a brisk 15 minute walk from my car (which I parked in my usual location for work) and the Duke Eye Center, all the way in the hospital complex.
I have to start getting to bed at a decent time! How did my life get so busy?! I thought I was busy before, but it keeps getting busier, it seems.

Overslept this morning
I forgot to set my alarm last night, so I woke up naturally at 6 AM, rather than my normal 5:00. I almost took it easy this morning and give myself the morning off from exercise, but I decided to hop into my workout clothes and get whatever exercise in that I could. I managed a 30 minute stint on the elliptical, which felt good. I missed getting the whole 60-minute sweat in, but I do feel really good for getting the extra sleep.

Good night's sleep
I went to bed early last night, and it's amazing how much better I feel today! Wow! I got back up to 65 minutes on the elliptical machine this morning, and that felt good too!
I was excited to find out yesterday that my hemaglobin A1c is down to 5.6! It's down from 10.9 last July.
Last night I finished reading The Eyre Affair, by Jasper Fforde, and started reading The New Psycho-Cybernetics, a book my sis gave me for Christmas. I remember the tennis coach at my high school having her team members read the original, and the team was quite good. I had the same coach for a PE class, and thought she was a neat lady. Anyway, I think the book will be a really good one for me to read, with the diet and exercise program I'm on. Bet I'll be writing more about it soon!
