State of change

This morning I got on the scales, and had gained .7 lbs back! Yuck! Stayed on the Rice Diet, to boot. I did eat oatmeal instead of rice yesterday morning (a choice on the plan), and only exercised 35 minutes instead of my usual 60 minutes. I'm wearing heavier clothes this morning, as well. Still, I like to see forward (=downward) progress!

Meanwhile, my blood sugars and blood pressure are holding steady, which is a good sign.

Late workout

I didn't get to the gym until 9:30 last night! Work duties called, and while I would usually just stay a little late, I had to make it to the Rice House before 6:00. Soooo, I left and had supper there, and returned to work until about 8:45, hence the late start to my workout. *sigh* I decided to hang tough and spend an hour on the treadmill, and it paid off with a 1.7 lb loss! Now I'm down 18.8 lbs since I started the Rice Diet barely three weeks ago!

I checked in with the doctor this morning, since I dropped my bedtime insulin last night. He said to continue on with that dosage if my pre-meal blood sugars stay the same today as yesterday. But if they're lower, I can drop my bedtime insulin down again.

This is a picture of the Rice House, where I have my meals (except for lunch during the work week). There's another building for medical check-ups and stuff like that.

Progress in some areas

Last night I only got 15 minutes of exercise in, and this morning I stayed the same as yesterday, weight-wise. *sigh* I didn't eat anything differently, except a variety of the fruit choices. The smaller amount of insulin before each meal is going well, though, and tonight before bed, I'm going to try 3 units less of insulin (got the doctor's approval this morning).

Still on the move

I did an hour on the elliptical machine both Friday and yesterday, feel like I'm making progress. Lost 3.4 lbs in the past week, 17.1 in all. The pounds are coming off a little more slowly now, but the steady progress is good. I'm hoping to be down 20 lbs by this time next week, as that will mark a month on the Rice Diet.

People are starting to tell I've lost weight. :-)

Changing up the workout

Last night I did 50 minutes on the elliptical, and 25 minutes on strength training. It felt a little odd to break away from cardio, but my upper body got a good workout too for a change. I need to do that more often. I'm a little sore today.

My weight loss is up to 16.1 lbs! Yay! My lab work came back, and my total cholesterol is down 15 points in two weeks, to 163. Very happy about that too. My triglycerides are down 70 points, probably due in part to the exercising I've been doing.

Big workout on the elliptical

Last night, I spent a whole hour on the elliptical, with an interesting twist. I did a couple of different programmmed workouts, the "weight loss interval" for 30 minutes, and then programmed intervals for another 30 minutes. It felt great to let the machine control the settings and spice up my workout, leaving me to focus on the workout itself.

Afterward, George and I spent some time in the pool and hot tub. The hot tub felt especially good after that workout.

Finally at the next mini-goal

5 lb. increments are a my mini-goals at the moment, and I was excited when the scales revealed that I'm down 15.2 lbs this morning! This program is really working for me!

Last night I did only did 30 minutes on the treadmill, but increased the speed. This evening I hope to go for a longer time. Although the treadmill is a little boring to me, I do like the fact that it keeps me going at a constant speed (unless I change it). I hope to get a good personal music source going soon.

Becoming more fit

Last night, I spent 50 minutes on the treadmill. I did the machine's Fitness Test for the first 5 minutes, and it gave me a score of 30-average. I was happy to see that progress, especially with the weight I'm still carrying. When I did the same test in February, I was below average.

This morning at check-in, Iwas down 14.3 lbs. Bit by bit!

Finally hit one hour

Yesterday I lasted a whole hour on the elliptical machine! It felt great, and I treated myself to some time in the hot tub afterward. This morning at the Rice House, I hadn't lost any more weight at check-in, and I was surprised by that. Hopefully the scales will show a dip tomorrow.

More elliptical work

Wednesday night I spent 50 minutes on the elliptical, and last night was another 35 minutes. I've felt tired before I exercised, but feel a different kind of tired afterward. It's a good feeling, and helps me keep going. I've lost 12.6 lbs so far with the Rice Diet. Exercise is a big part of losing weight and helping my diabetes. I'm down to 5 units before each meal (down from 60 units after the hospital) and 15 units at bedtime (down from 45).

Two big steps for me will be getting off of insulin, and fitting into the next clothes size down.

Addendum: Tonight I did 45 minutes on the elliptical. Can feel my stamina coming back, which is exciting. Time to find another 5K to walk/run.

Keeping on keeping on

Last night, I spent 40 minutes on the elliptical again. This morning I'd only lost .4 lbs since yesterday, was a little disappointed about that, but I need to be patient with my body.

This morning I went to see Dr. Blackford, and she was pleased with my progress. I'll be calling her back weekly with my blood sugars to keep monitoring that.

Before the appointment, I went to Dick's to try to buy some more workout shorts that would fit me now, but they didn't have anything big enough. :-( That's one thing I'm looking forward to when I've lost more weight--have an easier time buying clothes.

Mixing it up

Last night at the gym, I did 10 minutes of walking, 20 minutes on the elliptical, then 10 more minutes of walking. I'm still sore, but feeling stronger.

Tonight, I did 40 minutes on the elliptical machine before supper. People are amazed that I can last that long on it, but for some reason, I can get on it and go.

I've lost 7.9 lbs so far this week. George says he can tell I'm looking trimmer.

More exercise

Last night I returned to the Fitness Center, and spend 40 minutes on the elliptical! Yay! This morning, I'd lost more weight, now down a total of 7 lbs since Tuesday. There's something to this Rice Diet Program. Never thought I'd be a vegan!

Getting back on track

After 4 days in the hospital, I'm finally getting back on track. I joined the Rice Diet Program 2 days ago, and have lost 5.4 lbs! My blood pressure and blood sugars have gone down too, and I'm exercising again. Last night I did 30 minutes on the elliptical, and it felt great!
