I have today off from work, so I slept in and had a gloriously relaxing morning! I ended up at the UNC Wellness Center, and enjoyed a nice change of scenery from my normal gym, though I did a pretty normal workout (for me).
1) Rode 5.08 miles (30:03 min) on the recumbent bike
2) Fitness Test: I pressed the "FitTest" button on the treadmill I got on, and ended up running, then walking to cool down, for a total of a half a mile in 7:45. Odd time, huh?! All it told me was that my estimated VO2 Max was 50.0, which I assume to be pretty good for my age (45). I would've liked a little affirmation in flashing letters across the top of the treadmill screen, but oh well! :)
3) Walked 1.53 miles (25 min) on the treadmill at a 4% incline.
My legs are sore, and I'm a bit tired. Probably overdid it a bit before tomorrow's 10-miler, but I enjoyed the workout, all in all.
Notes and thoughts about my training, both in the gym and on the roads and trails of the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area of North Carolina

Post-race Workout
I woke up for this morning's workout feeling pretty rested, but still somewhat tired and sore from yesterday's half marathon. My hips aren't bothering me as much as they did after last weekends's 13.1 mile training run, but the plantar fasciitis in my left foot is bothering me more.
I decided to take it pretty easy for today's workout. I started with the recumbent bike, riding 2.61 miles in 15:01 minutes. Then I got on the treadmill, going 1.64 miles in 21 minutes. Afterward, I felt so-so, glad to have a workout under my belt, but still kinda tired.
I have a meeting after work tonight, but I hope to go to bed at a little early.

Run/Bike Again
I'm on a roll with the run/bike thing this week. This morning I ran 3.27 miles in 42 minutes, then rode 3 miles on the recumbent bike in 16 minutes. All my runs so far this week have had an average pace of under 13 minutes, which is encouraging to me. My quads are sore, but it's a good sore.

Long Recumbent Bike Ride
My legs are sore from yesterday's long run on the treadmill, so I got on the recumbent bike at the gym this morning, and did 7.01 miles in 40 minutes. Late on Sunday afternoon now, my legs are still pretty sore!
One of my projects this weekend has been entering my miles from earlier this year into my online training log on BuckeyeOutdoors, so that I can let the website do the math and create stats and reports for me. It's been an interesting reminder of all the miles I did at the beginning of the year (I'm transferring early February's runs now.) Not only did I run farther 8-9 months ago, but I was going faster too! *sigh*
It's reminded me of two things: 1) that I got injured in mid-February, due to the distance and speed I was putting in; and 2) I weigh a few more pounds than I did then.
I need to remember not to overdo it as I increase my workouts. I also need to continue to watch my calories and refocus my weight loss efforts.

Time on the Bike
After yesterday's workouts and lots of work-related walking, I am tired and sore this morning. I spent 30 minutes on the recumbant bike this morning, and couldn't wait to finish the very minimum minutes I try to do on a daily basis.

Back on the Elliptical
This morning I did 45 minutes on the elliptical machine, going 3.36 miles. My muscles are a little sore from yesterday's exercise. I may take it a little easier during tomorrow's workout.
I do feel more rested this morning, though. I'm glad I went to bed early last night.

The Day After...
This morning I did 60 minutes on the elliptical. I actually looked at the treadmills, then passed them by. I'm tired this morning after yesterday's race push, and could've done with a shorter workout, but oh well! I'm a little sore too, but mainly tired. (I got plenty of sleep last night, so I can't blame my tiredness on that.)
Still looking for offical results from yesterday's race, can't wait to see that the PR's official. :)
I was thinking about doing another 5K next weekend, but think I'll wait until the 15th now. There's a 5K in Fayetteville, a bit of a hike, but doable.

Tired from moving
George and I moved over the weekend, so I really got a lot of exercise through that! We're in a nice apartment on the THIRD floor now, so I'll be getting some extra built-in exercise climbing the extra stairs. I'm still pretty worn out (and sore in the legs!) from moving, but I'm glad I've been exercising and have lost some weight. That helped a lot with the move.
Meanwhile, I used the new apartment complex gym this morning. George got up and went with me, bless his heart! It went pretty well. I did 35 minutes on the elliptical there, and then got in the pool. My bathing suit is getting really loose....need to get a new one!

Lighter workout
This morning I did an easy 50 minutes on the elliptical. I'm still pretty sore since the 5K, though not quite as sore as Saturday night and yesterday. Still, I don't want to overdo it too much, muscle-wise. Of course, I'm missing burning those extra calories and getting even more fit.
Interesting thing, how actually running the whole 5K on Saturday has opened up my thinking about moving up to 10Ks and on to the marathon. It's really given me a sense of accomplishment, a lot like actually finishing the Cary Road Race last April (where I walked a lot of it and finished in last place!). My next goal will be to break 45 minutes on the 5K.
