Bike Ride

I took it a little easy this morning, doing 35 minutes (6.07 miles) on the recumbent bike. My body and legs are tired this morning, and I gave myself permission not to push it too much. I just enjoyed the time at the gym, listening to podcasts, with the morning news on the bike's TV screen.

Small Upgrade in Workout

This morning I did 65 minutes on the elliptical machine, then 5 minutes of upper body weight training. I felt rested and pretty strong, though my left foot (with the plantar fasciitis) twinged a little. I'd like to have more time for weight training, at least some days of the week. something to work toward.

Even with plenty of cardio, I haven't done any running this week, need to start working that back in. Meanwhile, I've been running vicariously through a couple of running podcasts, The Extra Mile, and Running from the Reaper. In each podcast, contributors actually make segments on the run, while training, so you can hear the panting and the cars in the background through the microphone. This whole iPod thing is great! Funny, though, I tend not to listen to my iPod while I run, but I do enjoy listening while I'm on the elliptical and other places.

Longer on the elliptical

I did 75 minutes on the elliptical this morning. Felt pretty strong through it all. The iPod is helping a lot, keeping me going through podcasts and playlists.

More elliptical

I spent 65 minutes on the elliptical machine again this morning. I'm feeling tired today, so I took it pretty easy, as far as effort. Enjoyed listening to a podcast of NPR's "This American Life."

iPod News

My new computer at work has iTunes on it, so I'm trying to learn about it on lunch breaks and at home (with the iPod and iTunes for Dummies book), so that I can add music and podcasts to the iPod I got for my birthday. It's been a great addition to my workout routine! Podcasts I'm going to try out include "This American Life," "Car Talk," "The News from Lake Wobegon," and something about learning Spanish.
