Back Inside
It's in the 20s outside this morning, so I wimped out on running outside this morning and hit the elliptical machine and treadmill inside the warm gym this morning. I did 15 minutes on the elliptical, then 4.13 miles on the treadmill in 45:01 . My average pace/mile was 10:54. Lots faster than on the road, but there are advantages to the treadmill. It's nice to know I CAN run faster, even when it's the treadmill pulling me along on a consistent pace. Also, the treadmill is a little easier on my body. My feet and ankles are feeling the effects of a couple of days on the asphalt! Still, I'm looking forward to more training on the road.

I've never done much running on a treadmill, but I have a friend who just bought one.
He's not a runner. He just walks on it, but he claims it's harder for him to walk on the treadmill than it is to walk up and down his road?
I'm like you......I always thought it might be a little easier on the treadmill?
After running in 34 degree weather all bundled up this evening......I'm thinking hard about that treadmill!!!LOL
Some people find the treadmill hard because it can be boring. Boredom hasn't been a problem for me yet, as the cardio machines at my gym have little TV screens, plus I used my iPod a lot. Sometimes I feel like I'm cheating a little with the high tech stuff, but it gets me through. :) And when it comes to road races, I leave the techie stuff at home. I love the atmosphere of a road race, and it's fun to soak it all up!
